I recently read an interesting article about foods that boost happiness. One of the foods on that list was one of my favorites – avocado! Did you know that avocado contains a nutrient called folate that helps regulate your serotonin levels? Apparently, folate also known as folic acid, helps the body create new cells and supports mood balance (serotonin is responsible for your mood). Folate is often paired with another powerful nutrient called B12 to help treat depression. By itself, folate has the benefit of boosting the efficiency of antidepressants. Avocado is a great source of folic acid, along with spinach, asparagus and black eyed peas! To find out what other foods made the “10 Foods That Make You Happy” list, click here.
